Preconstruction and Hilltop Concrete

When you hire Hilltop Concrete to install your concrete fence, you get complete turnkey service. We will handle everything from planning to permits to the final coat of paint. Before any work is performed, we need to prep the site. Sometimes this involves mowing or cutting down trees. Other times, we need to demolish an existing fence or tie in our fence with other structures. Each project is unique but Hilltop Concrete has the experience to handle any challenge.

To start, we always call the appropriate authorities to locate any potential underground utilities that may interfere with the fence line. 8-1-1 is the national call-before-you-dig phone number and you can also submit a request through 8-1-1’s website before digging to request that the approximate location of buried utilities be marked with paint or flags so that you don't unintentionally dig into an underground utility line. Since our post footings have a depth of 5-ft, utility lines may not be apparent or visible before you drill. Always call before you dig.

Additionally, underbrush, high grass, or even trees may need to be cleared from the fence line to establish the final grade. Sometimes a customer will opt to do this themselves or they may contact us to do so. We try and accommodate each client's needs. The fence line is then laid out by our experienced crew using marks every 5-feet for the piers with our 6-ft and 8-ft styles. We drill every 8-ft on center for the RanchRail style. Having a clean fence line makes it easier to place accurate markings and drill at the correct distances. On the other hand, there may be a fence already there.

Occasionally our clients will also contract us to demolition their existing fence. For our most recent project in Tyler, TX, we demolished a wood fence while keeping the existing brick columns. This is a common request as most do not want to waste the expensive columns and we are experienced with tying our fence in with existing structures. Depending on the existing fence, there may also be footings that need to be removed to place our own. At Hilltop Concrete, we know that how you get ready to install is as important as the installation itself.

We strive to provide you with the best experience possible, from the day you call us to the day we put the final touches on your fence. Our expert crews pride themselves on being able to modify our working procedures to accommodate our clients and the specific and unique challenges they each face.
