What is a Concrete Fence

Fences are not new news. It is common knowledge that a fence is an upright structure that encloses an area for a multitude of reasons, including to mark boundaries, provide security, control access, provide containment options or to provide visual screening. And fences are constructed in many forms, including chain link, wood, vinyl, iron, or concrete. When someone thinks of a fence, they likely picture a wooden fence, however, over time, the formerly popular wooden fence has been displaced by materials that provide greater benefits over longer periods of time. Hence, the introduction of precast concrete fences.

Over 50 years ago, modern precast concrete fences were first made in Europe and Africa. They were primitive concrete panels and posts that had a pattern only on one side. They were made by pouring concrete into steel trays or pan molds which had a pattern on the bottom. The open side was smooth, flat concrete. The other side matched the pattern in the pan. Neighbors chose which side they wanted but it was greatly influenced by who was paying for the fence.

Over the years, the technological advancements of those concrete fence molds, and their efficiencies, set the foundation for the creation of today's advanced textures and patterns. Today, Hilltop Concrete offers multiple pattern options, such as our StackedStone, OldBrick and WoodCast systems. Each of our systems has the pattern integrated on both sides of each of our precast concrete fence components so neighbors no longer have to choose between the pattern or smooth side of the structure. This provides a uniform appearance that both sides of the fence get to appreciate.

Concrete fences also provide more than aesthetic appeal. The installation process is much faster with a precast concrete fence because we manufacture each component of our systems before it arrives at the site. Our precast concrete fences also provide superior strength and durability over other fencing options. Because they are made of concrete, they are not susceptible to weather, insects, rot or warping. This makes our systems virtually maintenance-free and saves the property owner time and money because they do not have to worry about costly annual maintenance.

The success of the aesthetic and structural benefits of concrete fences has created an enormous demand for concrete fences as residential and commercial development privacy and noise screens, as well as federal, municipal and utility companies. At Hilltop Concrete, we strive to provide an exceptional product that is second to none and we take great pride in providing our customers all over the nation with top-notch customer service.
