As neighborhoods grow and additional housing or infrastructure is added, noise pollution grows as well. Bustling traffic, the hum of large equipment, and city sirens are all examples of noise pollution that can ruin the atmosphere of an area. Noise pollution can also be more than just a nuisance. There are many health problems that have been linked to noise pollution, such as high blood pressure, anxiety, hearing loss, insomnia, and even heart disease. If you are considering using precast concrete fencing to combat noise pollution, you're in the right place.

Barrier effectiveness depends on 3 things primarily, the height of the barrier, distance from the source of the noise, and the frequency of sound. Hilltop Concrete's precast concrete fences are incredibly effective against noise pollution. The barrier must be high enough and long enough to block the view or "line of sight" of the noise source. While just blocking the noise source to the line of sight you reduce noise by 5 dB but the taller the wall; the greater the reduction of noise pollution.

Being farther away from the source of the noise helps as well. If you install a concrete fence for noise reduction purposes, install it closer to the building or area you wish to block noise from. For linear noises, 2x distance reduces sound by 3 decibels. Decibels are a logarithmic scale so -3dB is equivalent to dividing by 2 for the sound level. Solid barriers tend to block high frequencies better than low frequencies but solid or not barriers don't completely stop sound transmission.

Additionally, our precast fence systems, such as our StackedStone system, are all textured. Once the sound reaches the wall, the texture causes the sound to scatter in a variety of directions aiding in the reduction of noise. More than just an acoustically effective solution, our systems also provide our customers with an aesthetically pleasing feature that is durable and inexpensive when compared to similar wall options.
