Winter is Coming...

Winter conditions present a huge challenge for the construction industry. Pouring concrete is difficult when temperatures drop to near freezing and placing concrete in these conditions can become near impossible unless expensive precautions are taken in advance. Winter conditions not only raise construction costs significantly but also slow site schedules and can reduce worker safety. While many construction projects can be affected by winter conditions, your fencing project can be manufactured in time, can still be constructed easily and completed on time, remain within budget, and maintain job site safety by utilizing precast concrete. Hilltop Concrete specializes in the manufacturing and installation of precast concrete fences all over the US, even in areas where cold weather can generally negatively impact a job site. No other building material equals concrete for its strength, durability, and economy. It is one of the most versatile and utilized building materials used on almost any construction site you can imagine. It has been utilized in the construction of countless structures from buildings to bridges to roads, but for all of its benefits, it does have one downside; it cannot properly cure the cold winter temperatures we experience. The American Concrete Institute defines cold weather concreting based on two parameters; a daily average outdoor temperature below 40 degrees Fahrenheit and outdoor air temperature not rising above 50 degrees Fahrenheit for more than half of a 24-hour period. Based on these parameters, this can affect approximately half of the year when construction projects could be delayed due to adverse winter weather conditions. Fortunately, there is a simple solution for the construction of a fence when cold weather prevents the installation of some building materials; precast concrete fencing! With precast concrete and a precast concrete fence, cold weather concreting does not have to delay the installation of a concrete fence for a project because the temperatures have dropped below ideal temperatures.

All of Hilltop Concrete’s precast concrete fence components are carefully constructed in a controlled environment that eliminates the problems associated with cold weather concreting. Our processes result in regulated components that continue to meet the high standards for quality, strength, and design that we demand from our concrete fence components. We have had years of training and hands-on experience in manufacturing our precast concrete components no matter the weather! Even during cold weather, all of our concrete fence components maintain the specified 5,000 psi strength and durability is never a worry. No other building material lasts as long as concrete and it will never rot, rust, or crumble like other fencing materials. Additionally, cold weather does not have to affect a job’s schedule when using precast concrete because we are able to pour and cure our components in our dedicated facility in advance of installation. Cost-effectiveness is also ensured when a precast concrete fence is utilized on a project because job time and labor are significantly reduced. We are proud to be able to pass these cost savings down to our customers.

Overall, choosing a precast concrete fence during cold winter months will keep you on schedule and on budget.
