Project Highlight: Merritt Homes, McKinney, TX

Hilltop Concrete is proud to showcase another StackedStone precast concrete fence that we recently installed in McKinney, TX. Merritt Homes is a multi-family housing project owned and managed by the Public Housing Authority in McKinney, TX. The multi-family property was originally constructed in the 1960s and faced aging and infrastructure issues that called for the reconstruction of the property and housing. During the reconstruction, Hilltop Concrete had the pleasure of working with Merritt Homes to install a precast concrete fence on their property. The construction of this fence will aid in the privacy and security of residents and act as a sound barrier from the busy city streets and businesses nearby.

For this project, we installed a 6’ high StackedStone system that surrounds the property’s North, East and South property lines totaling approximately 2,040 linear feet. The fence color, Bayou, was chosen to complement the newly constructed housing units and beautifully installed landscape. Additionally, no maintenance and easy repairs means that the Public Housing Authority can allocate funds to more important matters and will not have to dedicate a lot of time to annual upkeep. 

Beyond aesthetics and no maintenance, our precast concrete fence is intended to provide additional benefits for Merritt Homes. This housing facility is a gated residence and access is only permitted for residents and registered guests so it was important that the surrounding fence structure provided ample security. Our precast concrete fence system was the perfect solution because a concrete fence provides a clear message that the property does not allow unwelcome guests and protects the residents of Merritt Homes from theft and vandalism. Privacy for the residents of Merritt Homes was also a high priority. This housing facility has numerous businesses and a busy roadway that would significantly lessen the privacy for residents when they were walking pets, playing at the park or simply walking to or from their vehicles. Our StackedStone system provides a higher level of privacy than any other fencing option by completely blocking all lines of sight through the North, East and South property lines. The businesses and busy roadways also create undesired noise pollution. By building a solid structure between the housing units and the sound sources, noise pollution is significantly reduced and residents are able to enjoy their homes in peace.
